The first group is the Zombies. I was a zombie for many years. They are all around you. Zombies go through the motions of life. They have no impact, they simply exist. I would go to Church, go through all the motions, Sunday school, children's programs, and yet I left completely unaffected by what was around me. A zombie is almost dead on the inside. No feeling, No true relationships, just existence. They need someone to snap some life back into them. Challenge them about what they believe and what they are doing.
Vampires are a much more difficult monster. They Suck! They suck your fun, peace, joy, dreams and life away from you. They are usually self absorbed and negative. I have had many vampires in my life. They frown at your dreams, they love to tell you what you can not do, and why. If you insist on having a vampire in your life your only defense is a positive outlook when you are around them. You have to actively refuse to allow them to suck away all the fun and happiness from your life. Happiness is as contagious as negativity, just not as popular for some reason.
My least favorite monster is the werewolf, they transform into beast mode at the; drop of a hat, turn of a phrase, change in the wind, etc. If you are unsure if you have a werewolf in your life consider that person whom you walk on eggshells around. Someone with a quick temper that can turn ugly. We all get angry, but this person has a quick unpredictable anger. As long as you agree to walk on eggshells and accept the outbursts, they will continue. You need to change the terms of this relationship for your own piece of mind. Beast mode needs to be unacceptable to you and sometimes that will mean leaving a situation.
All of these monsters exist, and to a certain degree we all have moments when we become the zombie, the vampire, or even the werewolf. Do not mistake an occasional lapse for a true monster. I have days when I still tune out the world, I have days when I am that person who people call the "stick in the mud" and I have days when I loose my temper. I do not allow these attitudes to continue. A true monster is poison to your life and will only pull you down if you do not prepare yourself to deal with them.
Your best defense against a monster is PRAYER. Pray for them, that the Lord will transform them into something that glorifies him. Pray for yourself when you feel yourself acting like a monster. Pray for your friends and family that have a monster in their life that the Lord will give them strength. God already knows who the monsters are, Do you?
